2. Purpose & Commitment

Pyrometrix Ltd has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitative practices in all forms. We are committed to conducting our business ethically and in compliance with the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 and applicable international standards.

Although Pyrometrix does not manufacture products or maintain a complex physical supply chain, we recognise that risks can arise through our outsourced consultants, contractors, and digital service providers. We therefore apply rigorous due diligence to ensure that slavery and human trafficking do not feature in our extended operations.

This policy applies to all employees, trainers, consultants, contractors, and third-party service providers, regardless of location.

3. Alignment with International Standards

Our policy aligns with:

  • United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs)

  • International Labour Organisation (ILO) Conventions on forced labour and child labour

  • Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) Base Code

  • UK Modern Slavery Act 2015

4. Risk Profile for Pyrometrix

The following areas are identified as potential risk exposure points:

  • Consultants and contractors providing specialist expertise in fire safety training and accreditation.

  • Pyrometrix ensures that all individuals engaged in our business, whether as employees, contractors, or consultants, are compensated through fair and transparent agreements. Commission-based arrangements are structured to provide autonomy, choice, and freedom from dependency, ensuring they meet both the letter and spirit of ethical labour practices.

  • Digital platforms and gig economy providers (e.g., Fiverr) where labour practices may be less transparent.

  • Third-party services (IT hosting, marketing, outsourced administration).

5. Due Diligence & Risk Management

To address these risks, Pyrometrix implements the following controls:

  • Pre-engagement screening of consultants and contractors, including verification of professional standing and compliance with ethical labour practices.

  • Supplier declarations requiring all third parties (including gig economy providers) to confirm compliance with the Modern Slavery Act and international labour standards.

  • Contractual clauses mandating adherence to ethical labour practices and allowing for termination where non-compliance is identified.

  • Annual risk assessments of outsourced services, prioritising areas with the greatest exposure (consultants, digital platforms).

  • Whistleblowing mechanism that enables employees, contractors, or learners to report concerns confidentially.

6. Training & Awareness

Pyrometrix ensures that:

  • All staff, trainers, and Board members receive annual awareness training on modern slavery risks.

  • Procurement staff and those engaging consultants are trained to spot red flags, such as unrealistic pricing or indications of exploitative practices.

  • Learners and stakeholders are made aware of Pyrometrix’s commitment to fair and ethical practices.

7. Monitoring & Reporting

We monitor compliance through:

  • Annual reviews of supplier and consultant contracts.

  • Internal audits of risk assessments and due diligence records.

  • Board reporting, with escalation of any suspected breach to the highest governance level.

Performance indicators include:

  • 100% of new consultants/contractors screened for ethical compliance.

  • Zero instances of confirmed modern slavery in operations or services.

  • 100% of contracts updated with anti-slavery clauses by March 2026.

8. Continuous Improvement

Pyrometrix is committed to continuous improvement in this area by:

  • Keeping up-to-date with evolving legislation and best practice.

  • Engaging with professional networks and industry bodies to share knowledge.

  • Enhancing transparency by publishing this policy and, where appropriate, a Modern Slavery Statement on our website.

9. Policy Review Cycle

This policy is reviewed annually by the Head of Learning & Development. Updates are made as legislation, risk profiles, or operational circumstances change.
